Labour Partei Brexit

Massive upset predicted for Sir Keir Starmer's party

Millions of Keir Starmer voters think he is going to unpick Brexit despite Labor's plan to embrace life outside the European Union.

In its determination to turn the page on Brexit, Labor has ruled out rejoining the EU single market or customs union. But it says it is still open to discussing a bespoke trade deal with the EU that would cover areas such as goods, services, agriculture, and energy.

However, a new report from the Center for European Reform has found that Labor's plans would have minimal impact on reducing the economic costs of Brexit. The report found that Labor's plans would only reduce the UK's GDP by 0.2% in the long run, compared to the 4% hit to GDP that is expected under the government's current plans.

Labor's plans are likely to disappoint many of his voters. A recent poll found that 52% of Labor voters believe that the party should rejoin the EU single market.

Two weeks before an election that is expected to catapult him into 10 Downing Street, the leader of Britain's Labor Party Keir Starmer is facing a difficult choice. He can either stick to his party's current policy on Brexit, which is likely to disappoint many of his voters, or he can change course and adopt a more pro-EU stance. Either way, he is likely to face criticism from some quarters.
